Natalie Willens is an artist and educator originally born and raised in NYC. She has been teaching arts-integrated creative writing for the last 10 years in contexts ranging from early childhood classrooms to elementary libraries to university level literacy courses. She is a creative writer and photographer, and uses both mediums to examine how cultural representations shape gender and race identity formation. Her poetry and essays focus on societal double standards and she enjoys empowering students in their own writing practice to be vulnerable, ask meaningful questions, and engage in activism in their own communities. She's very excited to be moving back to NYC after six years in New Orleans in order to be a teaching artist in the city where she grew up!
