PS 676 Bright Spot

AUTUMN TILSON

AUTUMN TILSON, STAFF

This class at PS 676 was facilitated by TATIP trainee, Jiji Kikhia. The students engaged in a visual arts lesson, where the they drew their own superhero with oil crayons, and painted them in with watercolors. One student, Myeisha, is usually reluctant to participate in class, but during this lesson, she really came alive immediately.

Myeisha seemed to know right away what she wanted to create, and worked at it diligently throughout the entire class. It was beautiful seeing her be so present in class, having found something that she connected to.

Myeisha also received praise from classmates and staff, which visibly uplifted her. It was definitely a good example of seeing how mixed arts and multiple intelligences work in the classroom!
