YOU HAVE A VOICE.
Budget cuts have virtually eliminated arts education from New York City’s Title 1 Schools, while the arts represent a critical difference in inspiring voice, creativity and critical thought.
Community-Word Project enhances Core Curriculum in these struggling schools by providing alternative tools for learning and individual expression. Empowering students with these tools can transform disengagement into passion. Our programs address vital needs for alternative learning methods, individual attention, specially-trained Teaching Artists and long term residencies that build literacy, confidence, and community.
The cost of CWP’s multi-faceted programming greatly exceeds the tight budgets of our partner schools. CWP subsidizes each residency from $15,000 to $70,000. The success of our mission depends on the generosity of our individual and institutional supporters. Every dollar you give, every minute you spend on our behalf, every time you mention us in a conversation makes a direct impact on the lives of CWP students.
Every tax-deductible donation makes a difference:
- $50 provides art supplies for one class for a month, providing tools for students to explore self-expression through a variety of media.
- $115 provides one classroom session with 2 teaching artists working with students directly.
- $275 covers tuition for our 25-week training program for an aspiring teaching artist who will go on to impact thousands of young people.
- $500 allows a class to publish an anthology of their poetry, allowing their powerful voices to carry beyond the classrooms.
